Domaine Treuillet
Run by Sebastien, the Treuillet estate is located at the eastern end of the Loire Valley in the heart of Pouilly Fume expanding into Coteaux du Giennois. The Domaine has been in existence since 1995 planting having commenced first with Sauvignon and Chasselas vines in 1991.
Expansion came in 1998 by investment in Pinot Noir and Gamay vines in the new appellation area Coteaux du Giennois. Around 3.5 hectares are planted in Pouilly Fume, 0.35 ha in Pouilly Sur Loire and 1.6 ha in Coteaux du Giennois. The different expressions and characteristics of Pouilly Fume and Pouilly sur Loire are shown on one hand, by a terroir of clayey-chalk sub strata dating 135 to 140 million years old and on the other, by a terroir of Kimmeridgian clay overlying a bed of small fossilized oysters dating some 140 to 145 million years. The vineyards are on good sites with limestone giving minerality to the wines.
They remove buds to increase grape vigour, avoid herbicides and only treat the wines when absolutely necessary preferring to let nature take its course. All their viticultural practices are designed to harvest healthy and well balanced grapes.
